Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Benchcrafted was founded in 2005 with one product, the Mag-Blok. We had no intentions of making anything beyond that. Just two years later we were producing some of the finest workbench hardware available anywhere. We're a small, family company with just a handful of employees and we plan to keep it that way. We're motivated by one thing; making the best, most satisfying things we can. That doesn't always make them the cheapest, nor should a price tag be the first criterion when selecting the most important tools in your shop.
We work with our own products, both professionally and for pleasure on a daily basis. Our goal is to discover, study and test the best workholding methods for hand tool and power tool use, and turn these ideas into products that make all of our experiences in the shop better. We primarily look to the past for the seeds of our ideas, and mingle them with modern technologies and processes to yield results that work effortlessly. Ironic as it may sound, our goal is for our products to simply be a means to an end, to do their job quietly in the periphery so your mind can focus on producing your best work.

Some customers will lament that we do not publish a phone number. The reason for this is simple: productivity. We have found in our over 10 years of providing both excellent customer service and the highest quality products that the telephone detracts significantly from both of these. We are extremely prompt in our email responses, most often answering within minutes during a typical business day and often as not even after hours if we happen to be working at odd hours (not unusual for us). That said, we are not totally averse to the telephone, we will use it when email simply won't do the job and we do provide a phone number with every receipt after purchase is made.
We only accept returns with pre-approval.
We ship most small domestic orders via USPS. Most orders over 3+lbs. typically ship UPS. Please be sure you provide the correct shipping address at checkout.
We ship via USPS only (Canada can opt for UPS also). If you absolutely cannot accept USPS, special arrangements can be made.
We only charge actual shipping, both Domestic and International. We don't charge for handling, etc.
We have an excellent track record in these cases, having seen very few missing parts and almost no defects in our product shipments. That said, we do miss something every so often. In such cases simply contact us within 30 days of your purchase and we'll take care of you.
